On 21 November 2025, the Traffic Police (TP), supported by the Singapore Road Safety Council (SRSC), Singapore Nightlife Business Association (SNBA), Singapore River One, Foochow Coffee Restaurant & Bar Merchants Association (FCRBMA), and Motorist Pte Ltd, launched the Anti-Drink Drive Campaign at Fountain Square, Clarke Quay. The event was graced by Senior Minister of State (SMS), Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Ministry of Home Affairs, Ms Sim Ann, with around 100 guests and partners in attendance to mark the meaningful occasion.

The annual Anti-Drink Drive campaign brings key stakeholders and partners together to raise awareness of the dangers of drink driving and encourage responsible behaviour on the roads, along with community outreach and enforcement operations conducted during festive periods.

Get Home Safely for Your Loved Ones

From January to August 2025, the number of drink driving accidents decreased by 17% to 94, compared to 113 in the same period for 2024. In the same period, fatal drink driving accidents also decreased to five in 2025, from 10 in 2024. However, the number of persons arrested for drink driving increased by 4% to 1,173 from January to August 2025, from 1,130 in the same period for 2024.

Commander Traffic Police, Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police (SAC) Daniel Tan reminds motorists that drink driving can be prevented and the choice lies with them. “Every time someone chooses to drink and drive, they are gambling with lives. This campaign reminds us that the people we love are waiting for us to come home safely.”

This year’s campaign uses a powerful visual of a man looking into a mirror and seeing his family's smiling faces encouraging him to get home safely, rather than his own reflection. The image emphasises motorists' responsibility to their loved ones.

The campaign will run across digital and physical platforms during the festive period. Anti-drink driving posters will appear on Police Message Boards from late November 2025, while electronic boards along expressways and main roads will display anti-drink drive messages through TP’s partnership with the Land Transport Authority. TP will continue conducting roadblock operations throughout the festive season to deter and detect drink drivers.

Other New Initiatives

As part of ongoing efforts to prevent drink driving, TP partnered with valet service providers to promote safe alternatives. Motorists are advised not to drive to drinking establishments, but for those who do, valet services ensure both driver and vehicle return home safely. This collaboration reinforces the “Don’t Drink and Drive” message by providing alternative transport options.

During the event, TP also introduced mirror decals with anti-drink driving messages, reminding motorists to make alternative transport arrangements to get home. These decals will be affixed to mirrors or restrooms in nightlife venues from December 2025.

Leading up to the Lunar New Year celebrations in February 2026, red packets featuring "Get Home Safely" and "Do Not Drink and Drive" messages will be distributed to the public, spreading road safety messages. More details on how to obtain the red packets will be announced on TP’s Use Your RoadSense Facebook Page in January 2026.

To ensure road safety during the holiday period, TP urges all motorists to make responsible decisions and plan for transport arrangements before heading for drinks.
