On 24 October 2025, the Singapore Road Safety Council (SRSC) held its Fundraising Gala Dinner at Marina Bay Sands. The Guest-of-Honour was Ms Sim Ann, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Home Affairs.
The event was an important platform to rally support for road safety causes and sought to raise funds for road safety education in Singapore. It brought together stakeholders from both the public and private sectors, community organisations, and donors who share the common goal of making Singapore’s roads safer for all.
More than $612,000 was raised through the dinner, demonstrating strong community support for road safety education and outreach programmes. These initiatives include nationwide awareness efforts, digital and social media outreach, and projects focused on vulnerable road users such as pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists.
A key highlight of the evening was the launch of the SRSC Commendation Award for SRSC’s Road Safety Heroes. The award encourages public-spiritedness by recognising members of the public who display courage, graciousness and responsibility in keeping Singapore’s roads safe.
The inaugural awards were presented to two bus captains from SMRT Corporation, Bus Captain Yau Minddin Bin Muhamad and Senior Bus Captain Ngui Poh Seng, who assisted a driver whose vehicle caught fire along Bukit Timah Road on 17 August 2025.
As a gesture of appreciation, tokens of recognition were also presented to the donors during the event, highlighting SRSC's gratitude for their unwavering support over the years. Their contributions are essential to the Council's mission of advancing road safety initiatives in Singapore.
SMS Sim Ann emphasised that road safety remains a shared responsibility. She noted that the road traffic statistics were concerning, particularly for vulnerable road users, but said that with stronger partnerships, continued public support and individual responsibility, the trend can be reversed, and the roads can be made safer for all.
