Man To Be Charged For Theft In Dwelling

The Police have arrested a 57-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a series of theft in dwelling cases.

On 3 December 2025 at about 7.20am, the Police were alerted to a case of theft in dwelling at a hawker centre along Old Airport Road, where $20 in cash was stolen from a food and beverage stall.

Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from Police cameras, officers from Bedok Police Division established the man’s identity and arrested him on 4 December 2025. Preliminary investigations revealed that the man is also believed to be involved in other similar cases of theft in dwelling.

The man will be charged in court on 6 December 2025 for the offence of theft in dwelling under Section 380 of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment term of up to seven years, and a fine.

The Police have zero tolerance for such acts of crime and will spare no effort to apprehend offenders and deal with them in accordance with the law. Businesses, especially those operating in high-traffic public areas, are advised to secure valuables such as tip boxes and cash containers to prevent opportunistic theft.
