The Police have arrested two men, aged 25 and 33, and a 16-year-old male teenager, for their suspected involvement in a case of unlawful discharge of fireworks.
On 20 March 2026 at about 11.15pm, the Police were alerted to a case of unlawful discharge of fireworks at a multi-storey car park at Block 16A Ghim Moh Road.
Through extensive ground enquiries, officers from Clementi Police Division established the identities of the trio and arrested them between 22 and 23 March 2026. Preliminary investigations revealed that the trio had discharged multiple fireworks in the vicinity, causing loud explosions that alarmed residents in the area. Police investigations are ongoing.
Under the Guns, Explosives and Weapons Control Act 2021, the offence of unauthorised use of explosives carries an imprisonment term not exceeding 36 months and a fine not exceeding $50,000.
The Police have zero tolerance against acts that endanger the lives or safety of others and cause undue alarm to the public, and will not hesitate to take action against those who blatantly disregard the law. Members of the public are reminded that the discharge of fireworks without proper authorisation is illegal and poses serious safety risks to both the perpetrator and the community.
