Man Arrested For Outrage Of Modesty

The Police have arrested a 37-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of outrage of modesty. 

On 27 May 2026 at about 7.40am, the Police received a report that an unknown man allegedly molested a 62-year-old woman in the vicinity of Sungei Tengah Road. 

Through extensive follow-up investigations and with the aid of images from Police cameras and CCTVs, officers from Jurong Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on 3 June 2026. 

The man will be charged in court on 5 June 2026 with the offence of outrage of modesty in certain circumstances under Section 354A(1) of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment for a term of not less than two years and not more than 10 years and caning. 

The Police have zero tolerance towards sexual offenders who prey on unsuspecting victims and threaten the personal safety of those in the community. Offenders will be dealt with sternly in accordance with the law. Victims of molestation should move away from the perpetrators and call the police immediately when it is safe to do so. While ensuring their personal safety, victims should try to note key details such as the perpetrator’s physical appearance, clothing, the time and location of the incident.
