Man Arrested For Theft

The Police have arrested a 25-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of theft.

On 21 June 2026 at about 11.55pm, the Police were alerted to a case of theft along New Upper Changi Road, where cash amounting to $50,000 was stolen from a victim. Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim had arranged to meet the 25-year-old man to purchase USDT cryptocurrency amounting to $100,000. When the victim was preparing to hand over cash in exchange for the cryptocurrency, and placed a portion of it on the bench, the man allegedly grabbed cash amounting to S$50,000 placed on the bench and fled the scene.

Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from Police cameras and CCTVs, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him within a day of the report. Cash amounting to S$7,450 was recovered.

The man will be charged in court on 24 June 2026 with the offence of theft under Section 379 of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment term which may extend to three years, or with fine, or with both.

The Police have zero tolerance for such acts and will not hesitate to take firm action against those who blatantly disregard the law.
