The Public Transport Security Command (“TransCom”) Community Roadshow was held at Punggol Coast MRT Station on 4 September 2026. Ms Sim Ann, Second Minister for Foreign Affairs and Second Minister for Home Affairs, was the Guest-of-Honour at the event.

TransCom Community Roadshow

In her opening address, Second Minister Sim highlighted the importance of community vigilance and partnership in keeping the public land transport network safe and secure. She reiterated the S.P.O.T action protocol (Spot it, Protect the victim (and oneself), Observe key details, and Tell the Police), that the Singapore Police Force had launched in April 2026 to encourage members of the public to take action should they witness or experience sexual crimes.

During the event, TransCom introduced the refreshed crime prevention visuals which will be displayed in multiple MRT stations, including Punggol Coast MRT Station, to raise public awareness. Also launched was a digital storybook, Alert Allie,  featuring a storyline aimed at empowering young readers and their families to play an active role in spotting and reporting suspicious persons, items, or activities during their daily commute.

SaferSG Public Spiritedness Award and SaferSG Partner (Individual) Award 

Three members of public were presented the SaferSG Public Spiritedness Award and two public transport staff received the SaferSG Partner (Individual) Award for responding to voyeurism cases that took place this year.

In the first case, on 13 June 2026, Mr Tan Ming Quan and Ms Lee Yu Hui heard a commotion and intervened to detain a man who was caught using a concealed mobile phone in his shoe to take upskirt photos. They alerted the station staff, who subsequently called the Police. The man was arrested for voyeurism under Section 377BB of the Penal Code 1871.

In the second case, on 8 July 2026, Mr Kwok Yen Ming was at Sengkang MRT Station when he noticed a man holding a mobile phone at chest level, with the camera pointed towards a female victim. He confronted the man and sought assistance from SBS Transit staff, Mr Tan Seng Huat, who was the duty station manager. A check conducted on the man’s phone revealed voyeuristic material and the man was arrested by the Police for voyeurism under Section 377BB of the Penal Code 1871.

In the third case, on 22 July 2026, Mr Samri Bin Kudin, a staff member of SMRT Corporation, observed a man taking upskirt photos of a female victim while she was on an escalator at Caldecott MRT Station. He promptly reported the incident to the station staff who detained the man until the Police arrived. The man was subsequently arrested for voyeurism under Section 377BB of the Penal Code 1871.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (AC) Masagoes Idris Hussain, Commander TransCom said, “As part of our efforts to further enhance the safety and security of the public land transport network, TransCom has worked with the Land Transport Authority and public transport operators to refresh the crime prevention advisories at key MRT stations. While the number of molestation cases committed within the public transport network has notably decreased in the first half of 2026 compared to the same period in 2025, we urge the public to remain vigilant during their daily commute and report to the Police or station staff if they witness a crime. We also encourage commuters to join our Riders-on-Watch network to receive timely updates on crime trends and tips to keep themselves and their families safe.”.
