The Police have arrested a 25-year-old man for his involvement in a case of theft of motorcycle.
On 1 October 2026, the Police were alerted to a case of theft of a motorcycle in the vicinity of Fernvale Street. Preliminary investigations revealed that the key had been left at the ignition slot of the motorcycle.
Through extensive ground enquiries, officers from the Ang Mo Kio Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on 2 October 2026. Investigations revealed that the man did not possess a valid driving licence.
The man will be charged in court on 3 October 2026 for the offence of theft of motor vehicle under Section 379A of the Penal Code 1871. This offence carries an imprisonment term of up to seven years and a fine.
The Police would like to advise all motorcycle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:
- Park your motorcycle in well-lit areas;
- Install an anti-theft alarm for your motorcycle and ensure that it is well-maintained;
- Remove the ignition key and lock your motorcycle, whenever it is left unattended; and
- Do not leave spare keys or transponders inside any storage compartments of the motorcycle.
