While F1 drivers thrilled crowds with their racing skills at this year’s Singapore Grand Prix, officers of the Singapore Police Force (SPF) matched their intensity and precision with a well-coordinated security operation to ensure the safety and security of all attendees.
If you were among the hundreds of thousands of attendees at the F1 Night Race in Singapore this year, you’d have enjoyed the excitement and high spirits on the ground. One of the key reasons for the event’s continued success is the dedication of our Police officers, working tirelessly behind the scenes to safeguard the event.

Since 2016, INTERPOL has collaborated with the SPF to provide an additional layer of security at the Singapore Grand Prix. Throughout the event, specialists from INTERPOL worked alongside SPF officers in the Command Post, providing real-time support and expertise.
This year marks a significant milestone – 10 years of collaboration between INTERPOL and the SPF for the Singapore Grand Prix. Through this partnership, both organisations are able to enhance security and safety at this major sporting event.

The SPF’s efforts extended beyond international collaborations. Long before the first practice session began, Police officers embarked on an extensive planning process that rivalled the precision of F1 engineering. Risk assessments were conducted, vulnerabilities identified and comprehensive security protocols developed to address potential threats.

The security operation reached beyond the race track itself. Officers and auxiliary personnel were strategically positioned across the entire event footprint, from the bustling grandstands to quieter areas on the perimeter of the main action.

Specialist units such as the Special Operations Command (SOC) also contributed to the overall security effort, with teams focused on public safety as well as rapid response to any incident.

Beyond land-based operations, the Police Coast Guard conducted waterborne patrols in Marina Bay. This multi-domain approach provided robust security coverage that matched the complexity of the urban race environment.

Racegoers also noted how officers played a crucial role in enhancing their overall experience. Ground Response Force Officers and auxiliary personnel provided directions, assisted with crowd management and ensured that the excitement of the event didn't compromise public safety. Their presence at transport hubs and key public areas helped maintain smooth operations throughout the weekend.

When the race concluded on Sunday night and the last spectator had departed, it demonstrated how thorough planning, professional execution and inter-agency cooperation can create safe environments for world-class sporting events.
As another successful F1 weekend ends, we recognise the professionalism and dedication of the officers who proved once again that effective security operations require the same precision and teamwork that define F1 racing.
