Pride filled the ranks when the Singapore Police Force held its National Day Observance Ceremony on 7 August 2026 to celebrate Singapore’s 61st National Day as well as the 60th anniversary of the National Pledge.
Held at the Home Team Academy, this year’s Ceremony honoured the National Pledge, which was written in 1966 by then-Minister for Foreign Affairs S Rajaratnam. Crafted with care to help unite Singaporeans through a shared sense of identity and belonging, the Pledge expresses our cherished values of multiculturalism, democracy, justice and equality. Since its first recitation by 500,000 students on 24 August 1966, the Pledge has served as a heartfelt rallying call for all Singaporeans.
The highlight of this year’s Ceremony was a collective recitation of the Pledge, with officers and guests united as one in raising their voices to reaffirm our cherished, shared values.
Other highlights of this year’s Ceremony included the ceremonial cake-cutting session to mark our nation’s 61st birthday and vibrant cultural performances that showcased Singapore’s diverse heritage.
The celebration wrapped up on a high note with a spirited sing-along of well-loved community songs – a meaningful end to the occasion. Happy National Day, Singapore!
