While F1 cars surged across the starting line the moment the starting lights flashed green, the work to keep the F1 Singapore Grand Prix safe and secure began long before race day.
For the Singapore Police Force (SPF), securing one of Singapore’s largest international sporting events was the culmination of months of careful planning and coordination, bringing together event organisers, auxiliary police partners and other public agencies to safeguard the drivers, racing teams and hundreds of thousands of spectators.
Preparation began months in advance, with SPF officers conducting risk assessments and threat analyses, developing operational plans and coordinating security measures with stakeholders to ensure the event proceeded smoothly.
During the F1 weekend, our Ground Response Force (GRF) officers conducted patrols of the circuit and surrounding areas. They focused on maintaining crowd safety, scanning for potential threats and responding swiftly to incidents.
Alongside officers on patrol were specialist units such as the Special Operations Command (SOC), strategically deployed to strengthen the SPF’s ability to respond decisively to public order and security incidents.
Beyond the circuit, the Police Coast Guard (PCG) kept watch over the surrounding waters of Marina Bay, extending the SPF’s security coverage from the racing circuit to the waterfront.
Bringing these capabilities together required seamless coordination across units. Drawing on their experience managing major public events, our officers monitored crowd levels, provided timely information to manage crowd flow and maintained vigilant presence throughout the weekend.
From months of preparation to the final lap, our officers’ professionalism and dedication ensured that spectators could enjoy the excitement of the race with peace of mind – a testament to the SPF’s commitment to keeping Singapore safe, on and off the F1 circuit.
