Man Arrested For Theft Of A Bag

The Police have arrested a 54-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of theft of a bag.

On 5 April 2023, the Police were alerted to a case of theft of a bag at Jalan Bukit Merah. Preliminary investigations revealed the man had allegedly stolen a bag from the victim’s bicycle parked beside him, while the victim was sleeping at a pavilion along Jalan Bukit Merah.

Through extensive ground enquiries and with the aid of images from Police cameras, officers from Central Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him within two hours of the report. The stolen bag, with the items intact, was also recovered.

The man will be charged in court on 6 April 2023 with theft, punishable under Section 379 of Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment term of up to three years, a fine, or both.
