The Police will be charging a 34-year-old man for his alleged involvement in the attempted murder of a 77-year-old woman.

On 18 January 2024 at about 4.45 pm, the Police were alerted to a case of assault at a residential unit along Serangoon Central. Preliminary investigations revealed that on 16 January 2024, the man had allegedly pressed a pillow over the woman’s face while she was sleeping with the intention to kill her. The man was subsequently arrested by the Police in relation to the case. Both parties are known to each other.

The man will be charged in court on 24 January 2024 with attempted murder under Section 307 of the Penal Code 1871. The offence of attempted murder where hurt is caused to any person by such act carries life imprisonment and caning, or imprisonment of up to 20 years and fine or caning, or both.
