Man To Be Charged For Murder

The Police have arrested a 41-year-old man for his alleged involvement in the murder of a 48-year-old woman.

On 7 September 2024 at 1.36am, the man was arrested at Bukit Merah East Neighbourhood Police Centre after he informed officers there that he had stabbed a woman. Upon receiving the information, police officers were despatched to a food centre along Kadayanallur Street, and found the 48-year-old woman lying motionless. She was subsequently pronounced dead by paramedics at scene. Preliminary investigations revealed that both parties are known to each other.

The man will be charged in court on 8 September 2024 with murder under Section 302(1) of the Penal Code 1871. The offence of murder carries the death penalty. 

Police investigations are ongoing.
