Man Arrested For Theft Of Bicycle Within Three Hours

The Police have arrested a 36-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of theft of bicycle.

On 20 September 2024 at about 1.15am, the Police were alerted to a case of an unknown man behaving suspiciously at the vicinity of Bedok South Avenue 1.

With the aid of images from Police cameras, Police Operations Command Centre coordinated with officers from Bedok Police Division to establish the identity of the man and arrested him within three hours of the report. The bicycle was recovered and seized as case exhibit. Preliminary investigations revealed that the man is believed to be involved in other cases of theft at Geylang, Sims Avenue, Aljunied and New Upper Changi Road.

The man will be charged in court on 21 September 2024 with the offence of Theft under Section 379 of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment term of up to three years, a fine, or both.

The Police will spare no effort to arrest those who commit offence against property. Offenders will be dealt with firmly in accordance with the law.
