Execution Of A Convicted Murderer

The capital sentence of death imposed on Iskandar bin Rahmat (“Iskandar”) was carried out on 5 February 2025.

Iskandar, a 46-year-old Singaporean, was charged with and convicted of the murder of two men on 10 July 2013.

Iskandar was accorded full due process under the law, and was represented by legal counsel both at the trial and at the appeal:

  1. Iskandar was convicted and sentenced to capital punishment on 4 December 2015.

  2. He appealed against his conviction and sentence, and the Court of Appeal dismissed his appeal on 3 February 2017.

Iskandar’s petitions to the President for clemency were unsuccessful.

Capital punishment is imposed only for the most serious crimes, including murder.
