The Police have arrested a 38-year-old man for his suspected involvement in two cases of housebreaking and theft.

Between 19 and 21 August 2025, the Police received two reports of suspected housebreaking and theft at a hotel along Tanglin Road. On 19 August 2025, a victim reported that his handphone was missing from his hotel room. On 21 August 2025, another victim similarly reported that his handphone and a wallet were missing from his hotel room. 

Through extensive ground enquiries and with the aid of CCTV images, officers from Tanglin Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on 21 August 2025. The handphone and wallet from the second victim were recovered from the man.  

The man will be charged in court on 23 August 2025 for the offence of housebreaking and theft, punishable under Section 451 of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment term of up to 10 years and a fine.
