31 Motorists To Be Charged With Drink Driving

The Police will be charging 31 motorists, aged between 24 and 61, in court on 20 August 2026 for drink driving offences. They were arrested between May 2026 and July 2026 after failing breathalyser tests conducted during Police enforcement checks. Two of the 31 motorists will also be charged for leaving their vehicles in positions causing undue inconvenience to other road users.

The two male motorists who face additional charges, aged 28 and 35, were found asleep behind the wheel of their vehicles along Lorong 1 Geylang and Nicoll Highway on 26 July 2026 and 12 July 2026 respectively. Investigations revealed that they had driven after consuming alcohol. Their vehicles were left in positions that obstructed traffic and potentially caused danger or inconvenience to other road users. They will be charged with drink-driving under Section 67(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Act 1961 and leaving a vehicle in a position causing undue inconvenience to others under Section 122 of the Road Traffic Act 1961.

Driving under the influence of alcohol is an extremely dangerous and irresponsible act. The Police do not condone drink driving and will not hesitate to take firm action against motorists who drink and drive. Members of the public should not drive if they intend to consume alcohol. All motorists are reminded to obey traffic laws and play their part in keeping Singapore’s roads safe.
