The 20th Heads of Asian Coast Guard Agencies Meeting (HACGAM) was held in Incheon, South Korea, from 2 to 6 September 2024. Commander PCG, Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police (SAC) Cheang Keng Keong led the Singapore delegation which also included a representative from the Maritime & Port Authority of Singapore

The HACGAM was established in 2004 as a platform for Coast Guard/Maritime Law Enforcement Agencies to foster cooperation, promote capacity building and sharing of best practices, with the objective of ensuring a safe and secure sea in the region.

During the meeting, PCG also took the opportunity to strengthen the bilateral relations and operational cooperation with PCG’s strategic partners.

The threats in the maritime domain are constantly evolving and the threat of terrorism is real. To be better prepared and ready to deal with such threats, PCG continues to closely collaborate with strategic foreign partners. Such collaborations will not only enhance capacity building but it will also develop strategic partnerships in jointly enforcing maritime security in the region.
