SPF Receives the Silver Ribbon Mental Health Awards 2024

The SPF was honoured with a Silver Ribbon Mental Health Award due to the various programmes and initiatives led by the Police Psychological Services Department.

On 1 October 2024, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) was honoured to receive the Silver Ribbon Award under the Employers category at the Silver Ribbon Mental Health Awards Ceremony 2024. The event was graced by Ms Gan Siow Huang, Minister of State, Ministry of Education & Ministry of Manpower, as the Guest of Honour. This prestigious award recognises SPF’s commitment to promoting mental health and fostering a mentally friendly and healthy work environment.

Dr Jansen Ang, Director of the Police Psychological Services Department (PPSD), received the award on behalf of SPF. Together with him, SPF Paracounsellor Deputy Chairperson Tay Wei Lee, Principal Psychologist Ms Whistine Chai, and Senior Psychologist Ms Cheryl Tan attended the ceremony.

In his speech, Director PPSD highlighted the importance of mental health in policing, stating: “Policing is about saving lives. Strong mental health awareness and support is crucial in ensuring the well-being and operational effectiveness of our officers”.

He further emphasised the SPF’s ongoing efforts in supporting the well-being of officers through various programmes and initiatives such as mental resilience training, counselling services, supervisory mental awareness training, and ensuring person-to-job fit, all of which contribute to the prevention of psychological casualties and enhancement of psychological resilience.

Dir PPSD thanked the SPF Paracounsellors, Psychologists, and Leaders for their efforts and support as well as reaffirmed PPSD’s ongoing dedication to promote mental health awareness through the A.S.K. PPSD Mental Health Awareness Campaign.
