In the heart of Singapore’s bustling heartlands, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) put its emergency response capabilities to the test through Exercise Heartbeat 2025, held at Marsiling Mall Hawker Centre on 15 February 2025. This large-scale counter-terrorism and emergency preparedness exercise simulated an attack by self-radicalised individuals, reinforcing the importance of vigilance, preparedness, and community resilience against potential threats.

Organised by the SPF and supported by the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), and the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF), this iteration of Exercise Heartbeat marked the first time the exercise was conducted at a hawker centre—a key communal space for all.

Exercise Heartbeat builds on the close collaboration between Home Team agencies and community partners to increase preparedness against terror attacks, in support of SGSecure and Exercise SG Ready. It serves as a vital reminder for organisations to review security measures, validate contingency plans, and enhance emergency readiness.
