The Police have arrested a 31-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of attempted armed robbery.
On 11 September 2025 at about 10.33am, the Police were alerted to a case of attempted armed robbery along Lorong 8 Geylang. Preliminary investigations revealed that the man had allegedly attempted to rob a 38-year-old man of his handphone with a penknife. The victim managed to flee from the man, and no valuables were taken.
Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from Police cameras and CCTVs, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him within seven hours of the report.
The man will be charged in court on 13 September 2025 with the offence of attempted armed robbery under Section 393 read with Section 397 of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment term of not less than two years and not more than seven years, and caning of not less than 12 strokes.
The Police will spare no effort to arrest those who commit violent crimes and will take firm action against them in accordance with the law. When confronted with a robbery, members of the public are advised to remain calm, take note of the physical appearance and distinctive features of the perpetrator, and call for the Police as soon as possible.
