Two Men Arrested For Loanshark Harassment

The Police have arrested two men aged 20 and 21, for their suspected involvement in a case of loanshark harassment. 

On 23 September 2025 at about 10.40pm, the Police were alerted to a case of loanshark harassment at a residential unit along Pasir Ris Street 51, where the wall in front of the unit was scribbled with loanshark-related graffiti. 

Through follow-up investigations and with the aid of images from Police cameras, officers from Bedok Police Division, Ang Mo Kio Police Division and Police Operations Command Centre established the identities of the two men and arrested them on 24 September 2025. Preliminary investigations revealed that the two men are believed to be involved in other similar cases of loanshark harassment. A mobile phone and a red marker were seized as case exhibits.  

The two men will be charged in Court on 26 September 2025 under the Moneylenders Act 2008. For first-time offenders, the offence of loanshark harassment carries a fine between $5000 and $50,000, with imprisonment of up to five years, and caning of up to six strokes. 

The Police have zero tolerance for loanshark harassment activities. Those who deliberately vandalise properties, cause annoyance or disrupt public safety, peace and security, will be dealt with severely in accordance with the law.

Members of the public are advised to stay away from loansharks and not work with or assist them in any way. The public can call ‘999’ if they suspect or know of anyone who could be involved in loansharking activities.
