The Police have arrested an 18-year-old male teenager for his suspected involvement in a series of cheating cases

Between July and October 2020, the Police received several reports from victims who were purportedly cheated by a teenager who claimed that he had a pair of limited edition branded sneakers for sale. The victims did not receive the sneakers after payments were made to the teenager via bank transfers.

Through follow-up investigations, officers from Jurong Police Division established the identity of the teenager and arrested him on 14 October 2020.

Police investigations are ongoing. The offence of cheating, punishable under Section 420 of the Penal Code, carries an imprisonment term of up to 10 years, and a fine.

The Police take a serious view of persons who may be involved in scams and frauds, and perpetrators will be dealt with, in accordance with the law.
