Two Men To Be Charged For Voluntarily Causing Grievous Hurt By Dangerous Weapon

The Police will be charging a 22-year-old man and a 23-year-old man in court on 18 March 2023 for their suspected involvement in a case of voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapon.

On 17 March 2023 at 2.57am, the Police were alerted to a case along Aliwal Street. Two men, aged 22 and 23, were allegedly involved in the stabbing of another 22-year-old man. The 22-year-old man was found with laceration wounds on his right chest and was subsequently conveyed conscious to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

Through follow-up investigations and with the aid of images from Police and CCTV cameras, officers from Central Division established the identity of the two men and arrested them. Police investigations are ongoing.

If convicted, the offence of voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapon, punishable under Section 326 of Penal Code 1871, carries a punishment of life imprisonment, or imprisonment for a term which may extend to 15 years, and shall also be liable to caning and/or a fine.

The Police take a zero tolerance approach towards such acts of violence and will not hesitate to take action against those who blatantly disregard the law.
