The Police have arrested two men, aged 48 and 61, for their suspected involvement in a case of voluntarily causing hurt with dangerous weapons.
On 20 January 2025 at about 7.35am, the Police received a call for assistance at the vicinity of Lorong 24 Geylang. Preliminary investigations revealed that the two men purportedly got into a dispute with a 26-year-old male victim and had allegedly used a metal stick to attack the victim. The victim sustained injuries and was conveyed conscious to the hospital. The metal stick was found at the scene and subsequently seized as a case exhibit.
Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from CCTVs and Police cameras, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identities of the two men and arrested them within nine hours of the report.
The two men will be charged in court on 22 January 2025 with the offence of voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons with common intention under Section 324 read with Section 34 of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment for a term which may extend to seven years, a fine, caning, or with any combination of such punishments.
The Police have zero tolerance for such brazen acts of violence and will not hesitate to take action against those who blatantly disregard the law.
