The Police will be charging a 23-year-old Indonesian man for his suspected involvement in a case of sexual exposure on board an aircraft en route to Singapore.
On 23 January 2025, the Police were alerted to an incident where a man allegedly exposed his genitals to a female cabin crew whilst on board an aircraft.
Investigations revealed that during the flight, the man, whilst seated at his seat, had allegedly unzipped his pants and exposed his genitals, and then covered himself with a blanket. He then set up his mobile phone and switched it to video recording mode. When a female cabin crew approached him to serve his meal, the man purportedly removed the blanket and exposed his genitals to her in full view. The female crew quickly left the man’s seat and reported the matter to her supervisor. Once the aircraft landed in Changi Airport, the man was arrested by officers from Airport Police Division. The man’s phone was seized for investigation.
The man will be charged in court on 12 March 2025 with the offence of sexual exposure under Sec 377BF of the Penal Code 1871 read with Sec 3 (1) of the Tokyo Convention Act 1971. The offence carries an imprisonment term which may extend to one year, a fine or both.
The Police takes a firm stance against sexual offenders who commit indecent acts that cause alarm, distress and harassment to others, whether on the aircraft or in public. Such offenders will be dealt with sternly in accordance with the law.
