The Police have arrested a 46-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of criminal breach of trust.
Between 8 October 2024 and 1 April 2025, the Police received several reports on a car company that failed to fulfil sales agreements with the proceeds amounting to more than $1 million.
Through follow-up investigations, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him. Preliminary investigations revealed that between June 2024 and January 2025, victims would engage the services of the said car company either to purchase or to sell their cars. The man allegedly deceived several victims where he facilitated with the sales agreement of vehicles but had instead misappropriated the funds by not following through with the transfer of the car ownerships. He purportedly failed to fulfill sales agreement which resulted in victims not receiving sales proceeds. A notebook, a handphone and stack of documents were seized as case exhibits.
The man will be charged in court on 3 April 2025 for the offence of criminal breach of trust as a director under Section 409 of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment term which may extend to 20 years and shall also be liable to a fine.
