Man Arrested For Attempted Armed Robbery With Hurt Within Three Hours

The Police have arrested a 40-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of attempted armed robbery with hurt.

On 12 May 2025 at about 1.30pm, the Police were alerted to a case of attempted armed robbery with hurt along Tampines Street 22. Preliminary investigations revealed that the man had allegedly demanded that the two victims hand over their valuables. When they did not, he allegedly used a metal rod to assault the victims. The two female victims, aged 82 and 30, sustained injuries and were conveyed conscious to the hospital.

Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from Police cameras and CCTVs, officers from Bedok Police Division and Police Operations Command Centre established the identity of the man and arrested him within three hours of the report. The metal rod was seized as case exhibit.

The man will be charged in court on 14 May 2025 with the offence of attempted armed robbery with hurt under Section 394 read with Section 397 of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment term of not less than five years and not more than 20 years, and at least 12 strokes of the cane.

The Police will spare no effort to arrest those who commit violent crimes and will take firm action against them in accordance with the law. Members of the public who encounter such cases are advised to remain calm, take note of the physical appearance and distinctive features of the perpetrator, and call for the Police as soon as possible.
