The Police will be charging three men, aged between 38 and 75, for their suspected involvement in a series of vandalism incidents relating to the pasting of advertisements at a public housing estate.
Between August and September 2025, the Police were alerted to multiple cases of vandalism where advertisements were pasted in lifts, on doors and along common corridors of Blocks 403A and 402B Lorong 1 Toa Payoh.
Through follow-up investigations and with the aid of images from CCTVs, officers from Tanglin Police Division established the identities of the three men on 3 September 2025. Preliminary investigations revealed that the acts were allegedly motivated by business rivalry, with the individuals also allegedly damaging each other's advertisements.
The three men will be charged in court on 27 January 2026 with the offence of vandalism with common intention under Section 3 of the Vandalism Act 1966 read with Section 34 of the Penal Code 1871. If convicted, they face a fine not exceeding $2,000, or imprisonment for a term not exceeding three years, and shall also be liable to caning of not less than three strokes and not more than eight strokes.
The Police have zero tolerance towards acts of vandalism and will not hesitate to take action against those who blatantly disregard the law.
