On 20 July 2026, Central Police Division launched the Education Safety and Security Watch Group (ESSWG) at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts. The event was attended by 56 representatives from Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs) and Private Education Institutions (PEIs).
The ESSWG aims to foster closer collaboration between the Singapore Police Force (SPF) and educational stakeholders to enhance youth crime prevention awareness.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (AC) Tay Wee Li, Commander of Central Police Division, and AC Louis Loke, Director of the Community Partnership Department, officiated the event.
In her opening address, AC Tay highlighted students’ growing vulnerabilities to cybercrime, from scams to online recruitment by criminal syndicates. Through the ESSWG, youths will be equipped with the knowledge to recognise risks and make safer choices online. AC Tay also called on educational institutions to partner with the SPF on outreach initiatives.
AC Tay then presented Certificates of Recognition to representatives of pioneer ESSWG members. The event also included guest speakers from the Singapore Anti-Narcotics Association (SANA) and United Overseas Bank (UOB), who shared insights on drug and scam awareness and highlighted preventive measures.
With the launch of the ESSWG, the SPF looks forward to growing the ESSWG network and deepening its partnerships with members.
