Man Arrested For Theft Of Motor Vehicle

The Police have arrested a 39-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of theft of motor vehicle.

On 5 June 2026 at about 1.50pm, the Police were alerted to a case of theft of motor vehicle. The victim reported that his car parked at an open space carpark along Lorong 4 Toa Payoh was purportedly stolen.

Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from Police cameras, officers from Tanglin Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him within two hours of the report being lodged. The stolen motor vehicle was also recovered.

The man will be charged in court on 6 June 2026 with the offence of theft of a motor vehicle under Section 379A of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment term of up to seven years and a fine.

The Police would like to advise all motor vehicle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  • Park your motor vehicle in well-lit areas;
  • Do not leave your key or transponder unattended;
  • Remove cash-cards, keys and other valuables, such as laptops and mobile phones before leaving the vehicle; and
  • Wind up all windows and lock all doors of the vehicle, even if it is intended to be left unattended for a short while.
