The Singapore Police Coast Guard (PCG) participated in the Second Tripartite Cooperation Port Visit in Batam, Indonesia from 10 to 12 August 2026. Hosted by Indonesia's Badan Keamanan Laut Republik Indonesia (BAKAMLA), the visit brought together senior leaders and representatives from PCG, BAKAMLA, and the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) to strengthen cooperation and enhance regional maritime security. About 80 officers from the three agencies participated in the event.
Introduced by PCG in 2025, the Tripartite Cooperation initiative provides a platform for the three maritime enforcement agencies to deepen operational collaboration through timely information sharing, training exchanges and capacity development.
The 22-member PCG delegation was led by Commander PCG, Senior Assistant Commissioner (SAC) Ang Eng Seng. During the three-day visit, senior leaders from the three agencies held discussions on strengthening cooperation initiatives under the Tripartite Cooperation framework. The cooperation focuses on addressing maritime threats and strengthening coordinated enforcement responses across the waters of Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia. It also supports the outcomes of the recent Singapore-Indonesia Leaders' Retreat, where both countries reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening maritime cooperation.
As part of the visit, patrol vessels and enforcement officers from the three agencies sailed into BAKAMLA's newly established Batam Base, underscoring the strong partnership among the agencies. Officers also took part in professional exchanges to deepen their understanding of one another’s operational capabilities and operating environments.
The waters of Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia are highly interconnected, and maritime threats often transcend national boundaries. The Tripartite Cooperation strengthens coordination among the three agencies, enhancing the collective ability to safeguard regional waters and its interconnected waterways. PCG, BAKAMLA and MMEA share a common interest in combating transnational crime, deterring illegal activities at sea, and maintaining maritime safety and security.
