On 14 October 2026, the Healthcare Industry Safety and Security Watch Group (Healthcare iSSWG) was launched at Orchard Hotel Singapore, alongside the 13th National Safety and Security Watch Group (NSSWG) Award Ceremony, jointly organised by the Singapore Police Force (SPF) and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF). Ms Sim Ann, Second Minister for Foreign Affairs and Second Minister for Home Affairs, graced the events as Guest of Honour.
Building a Safer Healthcare Environment
The Healthcare iSSWG marks the 11th iSSWG established since the framework was introduced in 2008. With the Singapore Medical Association joining the initiative, this partnership brings the SPF and the healthcare sector together to build a safer healthcare environment.
Through this partnership, the SPF will share crime and scam advisories to keep the healthcare sector informed of the latest crime trends, outline practical measures to enhance the safety and security of healthcare workers and provide guidance on reporting suspicious activities to the relevant authorities.
Recognising Workplace Safety and Security Efforts
The Safety and Security Watch Group (SSWG) is a network that enables the SPF and the SCDF to help building owners strengthen preparedness for security incidents and emergencies. Beyond physical security, the SSWG also supports the SGSecure movement by equipping member organisations with the knowledge and capabilities to respond effectively to incidents and emergencies. Through regular meetings, courses and seminars, the SPF and the SCDF keep members informed of evolving threats and the latest protective measures.
The NSSWG Award Ceremony recognises members for their contributions and collaboration with the SPF and the SCDF in enhancing workplace safety and security. This year, 83 members received the Outstanding Cluster and Outstanding Individual Awards, while an additional 102 members were presented with the SSWG Cluster, Individual and Commendation Awards.
Honouring Vigilance in Homefront Security
The ceremony also recognised organisations for their vigilance under the Threat-Oriented Person Screening Integrated System (TOPSIS). First launched at border checkpoints in 2009 to boost aviation and border security, TOPSIS has since expanded inland to strengthen homefront security. The security enhancement programme trains personnel to spot high-risk individuals and conduct enhanced security checks.
This year, 24 organisations received the TOPSIS Organisation Awards. Minister Sim Ann presented eight organisations with the TOPSIS Outstanding Award while another 16 organisations received the TOPSIS High Commendation and Commendation Awards.
A Shared Commitment to Safety and Security
The launch of the Healthcare iSSWG and recognition of SSWG and TOPSIS members underscore the importance of collaboration between the SPF, SCDF and community partners in strengthening Singapore’s safety and security.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Louis Loke, Director of the Community Partnership Department, said, “As threats evolve, it’s more important than ever for us to stay vigilant and work together. Today's awards recognise the commitment and valuable contributions of our community partners. We look forward to strengthening these partnerships and continue to make Singapore the safest place in the world.”
