The Police have arrested a 18-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapon.
On 7 October 2020 at about 12.40pm, the Police were alerted to a case where a 23-year-old man was attacked by another man with a knife at 221 Boon Lay Place. The 23-year-old man suffered injuries to his face and head and was conscious when conveyed to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital.
Through ground enquiries and with the aid of CCTV footage, officers from Jurong Police Division established the identity of the suspect and arrested him on the same day.
The man will be charged in court on 9 October 2020 for voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapon under Section 326 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. The Police will work with the prosecution to seek a court order for the man to be remanded at the Institute of Mental Health for psychiatric evaluation.
Anyone convicted for the offence of voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapon under section 326 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224 shall be punished with imprisonment for life, or with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 15 years; and shall also be liable to caning or if he is not sentenced to imprisonment for life, liable to fine.
