The Police have arrested a 43-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of voluntarily causing grievous hurt.

On 14 June 2022 at about 7.00pm, the Police were alerted to a case where a man had allegedly assaulted another woman in the vicinity of Block 35 Chai Chee Avenue. Preliminary investigations revealed that the man was involved in a dispute with a 48-year-old woman, and he allegedly punched her in the face and fled the scene. The woman was conveyed conscious to the hospital.

Through extensive ground enquiries and with the aid of Police cameras, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on 18 June 2022.

The man will be charged in court on 20 June 2022 with voluntarily causing grievous hurt under Section 325 of the Penal Code. The offence carries an imprisonment term which may extend to 10 years, and a fine or caning.

The Police have zero tolerance towards such acts of violence and will not hesitate to take action against those who blatantly disregard the law.
