Trial On Online Application For Conversion Of Foreign Driving Licences

The Traffic Police (TP) will be starting a trial to allow holders of Malaysian driving licences to submit their application for conversion of their foreign driving licences online from 14 July 2022 onwards. This trial intends to reduce the waiting and transaction times at the TP headquarters as checks on the eligibility criteria will be made prior to the applicants’ visits.

Applicants are encouraged to submit their applications online via a link,, or QR code (Annex A). Upon submission, they will receive an email asking them to submit their supporting documents. Upon receipt of the supporting documents, applicants will receive a reply on the outcome of their applications within 10 working days.

Once all documents are in order and the conversion eligibility criteria are met, applicants will be provided with a date and time to visit the TP headquarters with these documents for verification before the TP can complete the conversion process.

The TP would like to seek the public’s understanding as it processes a higher than usual volume of applications, and that during the processing, time is required to authenticate the documents and ensure that the conversion eligibility criteria are met.
