There has been a change of command at Ang Mo Kio Police Division.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (AC) Xie Xingmao (谢幸旄) assumed the command of Ang Mo Kio Police Division on 30 May 2023. AC Xie has taken over from AC Zed Teo Zi-Ming (张子明).

AC Xie, 37, joined the Singapore Police Force (SPF) in 2005. He has served 18 years with the SPF and has held several key appointments including Deputy Director (Security & Readiness) in the Operations Department, Deputy Commander of Jurong Police Division, Head Operations of Central Police Division, and Senior Assistant Director (Immigration & Registration) of the Policy Development Division in the Ministry of Home Affairs.

AC Teo, 39, who was appointed Commander of Ang Mo Kio Police Division on 01 October 2020, joined the SPF in 2003. In his 20 years with the SPF, he has held several key appointments, including Deputy Commander of Woodlands Police Division, Senior Assistant Director (Policy Development) of the Policy Development Division in the Ministry of Home Affairs and concurrently as Special Assistant to Minister for Home Affairs, and Head Operations and Training of Ang Mo Kio Police Division.

As Commander of Ang Mo Kio Police Division, AC Teo led the division to win the Best Land Division Competition in 2020. He has also led the development of many impactful crime-fighting initiatives, specifically targeting the rising number of scam cases. For example, he started the SAFE@Home Community Safety & Security Programme (CSSP) in 2022. SAFE stands for ‘Scam Alert For Everyone’, and involved police officers delivering anti-scam messages to the doorstep of residents living within Ang Mo Kio Police Division’s jurisdiction. Over a period of nine months, officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division visited a total of 2,400 HDB blocks and interacted with more than 95,000 residents from these blocks.

Recognising that the division could not fight the scourge of scams alone, AC Teo also pushed for greater collaboration with community partners. Under his leadership, Ang Mo Kio Police Division collaborated closely with the Retired & Senior Volunteer Programme (RSVP Singapore) to launch Project PRAISE in July 2022. PRAISE stands for Police-RSVP Anti-Scam Engagement and sought to raise anti-scam awareness amongst senior citizens. Since the launch, close to 100 PRAISE advocates had been trained, with 47 anti-scam outreach sessions conducted in different languages and dialects for more than 3,000 senior citizens.

Reflecting on his tenure as Commander of Ang Mo Kio Division, AC Teo said, “It has been my honour and privilege to serve as Commander of Ang Mo Kio Police Division. I would like to thank my fellow officers for their dedication to service and their steadfast commitment to keep our heartlands safe and secure, notwithstanding the challenges brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic. I would also like to thank our community partners for their unwavering support in our collective fight against crime. I wish Ang Mo Kio Police Division continued success.”
