Man Arrested For Robbery With Hurt Within Four Hours

The Police have arrested a 65-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of robbery with hurt.

On 19 May 2025 at 3.45pm, the Police were alerted to a case of robbery with hurt along Redhill Close. Preliminary investigations revealed that a 81-year-old victim was allegedly assaulted by an unknown man and was purportedly robbed of cash amounting to $200. The victim sustained injuries and was conveyed conscious to the hospital. The male assailant subsequently fled the scene.

Through follow-up investigations and with the aid of images from Police cameras and CCTVs, officers from Clementi Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him within four hours of the report. Cash amounting to $62 was  recovered.

The man will be charged in court on 21 May 2025 with the offence of robbery with hurt under Section 394 of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment term of not less than five years and not more than 20 years and caning of not less than 12 strokes.

The Police will not tolerate such brazen acts of crime and will spare no effort to apprehend such offenders and deal with them in accordance with the law. Members of the public who encounter such cases are advised to remain calm, take note of the physical appearance and distinctive features of the perpetrator, and call for the Police as soon as possible.
