Launch Of Singapore Road Safety Month 2025

The Traffic Police (TP) and the Singapore Road Safety Council (SRSC) launched the Singapore Road Safety Month campaign on 31 May 2025. This year’s event also marked the 10th anniversary of the “Use Your RoadSense” initiative. This year, the annual Singapore Ride Safe event for motorcyclists has also been integrated with Singapore Road Safety Month to streamline outreach efforts. Ms Sim Ann,  Senior Minister of State (SMS), Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Foreign Affairs was the Guest-of-Honour for the event, which was held at the Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre. Please refer to Annex A for photographs of the event.

The SRSC launched the “Safe Streets” street interview series, featuring five videos quizzing different road user groups – motorists, cyclists, seniors, caregivers, and children – on their road safety knowledge. The videos, which contain practical road safety takeaways, will be released throughout the month of June on SRSC’s Facebook page and YouTube channel.

The Land Transport Authority (LTA), together with SRSC, TP, and the Ministry of Education, will also be piloting a new handheld “STOP” sign at seven selected primary schools from 1 July 2025. Students may use the handheld sign at pedestrian crossings to enhance their visibility to approaching vehicles. Please refer to Annex B for screenshots of the street interview series, photographs of the handheld “STOP” sign, and the list of schools that the handheld “STOP” sign will be piloted at.

A highlight of this year’s event was the launch of a new mini road circuit for children to learn and practice proper road crossing techniques in a safe environment. This new initiative may be set up at future road safety events in the community. The event also featured a new child safety talk by healthcare professionals, alongside regular programmes and booths by stakeholders and partners.

To enhance community outreach, TP will place their mascot “Mr Zebra” standees and Ride Safe advisory messages banners at high-traffic locations across the island, with targeted safety messages installed on lamp posts identified by TP and LTA. The road safety banners will be distributed to all Neighbourhood Police Centres.

Singapore Ride Safe 2025

As part of the integrated Singapore Ride Safe programme to encourage safe riding habits among motorcyclists, TP and SRSC invited representatives from our community partner, Ng Teng Fong General Hospital, to educate motorcyclists on trauma prevention through proper gear usage.

The “Reward the Sensible Motorists” initiative will also run from 1 June to 31 August 2025. During this period, TP will identify and reward responsible motorists who demonstrate good road safety habits - such as wearing appropriate protective gear and signalling before changing lanes - with goodie bags. This year’s initiative will also be extended to bus operators. Please refer to Annex C for the information on the goodie bags.

Chairman of SRSC, Mr Bernard Tay said, “The launch of Singapore Road Safety Month 2025 marks a significant milestone in our collective commitment to creating safer roads for all. These efforts underscore our shared responsibility in fostering a culture of road safety, where every journey is a safe journey. Together, we can make a meaningful impact and ensure that road safety remains a priority in our daily lives.”

Commander of TP, Senior Assistant Commissioner Daniel Tan said, “Every time we are on the roads, we make choices that affect the lives of others. Simple actions like checking our blind spots, signalling early, or giving way may seem small, but play a big role in helping everyone get home safely.”

The Singapore Road Safety Month is part of TP’s and SRSC’s ongoing engagement and educational efforts to raise road safety awareness and encourage good road behaviour.
