Assistant Commissioner of Police (AC) Tan Chi Chong (陈麒聪) assumed command of Woodlands Police Division on 2 June 2025. He took over from Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police (SAC) Ang Eng Seng (洪湧胜), who had assumed the appointment of Commander of the Police Coast Guard on 9 April 2025.
AC Tan joined the Singapore Police Force (SPF) in 2008. In his 17 years with the SPF, he has held several key appointments, including Commanding Officer of Queenstown Neighbourhood Police Centre, Head Operations & Training of Central Police Division, Senior Assistant Director at the National Population and Talent Division of the Prime Minister’s Office, Deputy Commander of Clementi Police Division and Covering Director of the Planning and Organisation Department.
SAC Ang joined the SPF in 2005. Under SAC Ang’s command, Woodlands Police Division successfully completed the Integrated Checkpoints Command (Land Domain) transition from SPF to Immigration & Checkpoints Authority in 2023. The Division also clinched the ‘2nd Best Land Division’ award in 2023 and the ‘Most Innovative Unit’ award in SPF in 2024 and 2025. In addition, SAC Ang spearheaded the successful merger of Yishun North Neighbourhood Police Centre (NPC) and Yishun South NPC into Yishun NPC on 18 December 2024 to bolster the capabilities of the NPCs and optimise the use of Police resources. SAC Ang led his officers to solve major crimes and rolled out various crime prevention campaigns such as the Migrant Worker Community Partnership Forum to prevent crime and combat scams, while ensuring the smooth execution of major public safety and security operations such as the Presidential Election 2023, Formula One Singapore Grand Prix deployments from 2022 to 2024, and General Election 2025.
Reflecting on his tenure as Commander of Woodlands Police Division, SAC Ang said, “It has been a privilege to work alongside Woodlands Police Division officers for the past four years. Together we have fought crime, pursued excellence and cared for one another. We are united by our conviction and passion to serve the public and protect them from criminal harm. I am proud of the men and women of Woodlands Police Division, and have full confidence that they will continue to keep our residents safe and secure.”
