Operationalisation Of The Deployment Of Strategic Location Response By Protective Security Command

The Protective Security Command (ProCom) has operationalised its Strategic Location Response (SLR) deployment on 22 June 2025, which was marked by a flag-off ceremony graced by the Commander of ProCom, Assistant Commissioner of Police Victor Ho. This is part of ProCom’s ongoing transformation, aimed at enhancing the Singapore Police Force's (SPF) frontline public security incident response capabilities across the island.

The aim of SLR is to deter potential threats and enhance the overall security landscape by deploying specialised patrols to key locations of interest. This ability to deploy rapidly wherever they are needed is critical in responding to public security threats, enabling swift action to safeguard lives and maintain public safety.

Proactive Public Safety Measures

The ProCom SLR officers will bolster existing security measures at strategic locations, including popular tourist attractions and other public areas. They will conduct high visibility patrols to deter public security incidents, fostering a sense of security among residents and tourists alike.

Equipped with Advanced Technology

ProCom SLR officers are equipped with advanced operational capabilities, including both drone and counter-drone technology. ProCom SLR pilots are trained to operate police drones fitted with blinkers, which will support the Ground Commander’s appreciation of situation and assessment during police operations.

Additionally, SPF worked with HTX (Home Team Science and Technology Agency) to equip ProCom SLR officers with handheld drone jamming systems, allowing them to disrupt the operation of unauthorised drone operations and respond swiftly to potential threats.

Enhanced Patrol Capabilities with New Vehicles

To support the SLR officers, ProCom collaborated with HTX to acquire new Off-road Vehicles (ORV). This Hybrid-Electric vehicle demonstrates ProCom’s commitment to the Singapore Green Plan while maintaining high standards of incident response.

The off-road driving capabilities enhance ProCom’s ability to navigate varied terrains and floods and respond promptly to incidents at strategic locations, some of which are on remote areas. The big cargo space of the ORV enables the storage of additional equipment such as drones and counter-drone jammer guns. The larger cabin of the ORV offers more space to accommodate ProCom SLR officers in tactical gear, and their operational equipment during patrols. The advanced driver assistance system, 360 camera system, multiple air bags and tyre pressure monitoring system are integrated to enhance driving safety.

Community Engagement and Collaboration

As part of SLR, ProCom will continue to engage with local stakeholders and conduct joint patrols, fostering a cooperative environment that enhances overall public safety. This collaborative approach ensures that the community plays an active role in maintaining a secure environment, reinforcing the bond between law enforcement and the public.

The operationalisation of SLR reflects SPF's continued commitment to creating a safe and secure environment for all by projecting strong police presence and responding swiftly to security threats.
