On 14 July 2025, Woodlands Police Division presented the Community Partnership Award to Mr Yuen Jun Jie (“Mr Yuen”), a staff from MoneyMax Financial Services Limited in recognition of his strong partnership with the Police and commendable contribution towards detecting and preventing a case of Government Official Impersonation Scam (GOIS).
On 11 June 2025, Mr Yuen reported a suspicious transaction made by a customer for a sizable amount of gold to the Police. His keen observation and vigilance allowed him to pick up several suspicious indicators, which made him decide not to regard it as an ordinary purchase. He subsequently delayed the transaction and reported it to the Police. His keen observation and vigilance were critical in enabling the Police to intervene swiftly and prevented the customer, who was later established to be a victim of a GOIS, from losing more than $20,900,
Commander of Woodlands Police Division, Assistant Commissioner of Police (AC) Tan Chi Chong, expressed his appreciation to Mr Yuen for his vigilance and working with the Police to deter, detect and prevent crime. He said, “Scam prevention works best when everyone is vigilant. Through Mr Yuen’s vigilance in assessing the legitimacy of the request, the Police were able to intervene swiftly and prevent monetary loss to a scam victim. The Police take a serious stance against any person who may be involved in scams, and perpetrators will be fully dealt with in accordance with the law.”
