Man Arrested For Housebreaking And Theft

The Police have arrested a 39-year-old man for his suspected involvement in two cases of housebreaking and theft.

On 23 June 2025 at about 2.40pm, the Police were alerted to a case of housebreaking and theft at a food court along Choa Chu Kang Street 51 where cash amounting to $2,542 was purportedly stolen. 

In the second case, on 17 July 2025 at about 8.00am, the Police were alerted to a case of housebreaking and theft at a coffeeshop along Gangsa Road where cash amounting to $800 was purportedly stolen. 

Through extensive ground enquiries and with the aid of images from Police cameras and CCTVs, officers from Jurong Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on 22 July 2025.   

The man will be charged in court on 24 July 2025 with the offence of housebreaking and theft, punishable under Section 451 of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment term of up to 10 years and a fine.                 

The Police would like to advise members of the public to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  • Secure all doors, windows and other openings with good quality grilles and closed-shackle padlocks before leaving your premises unattended, even for a short while;

  • Refrain from keeping large sums of cash and valuables in your premises; and

  • Install a burglar alarm, motion sensor light and/or CCTVs, to cover the access points into your premises. Ensure that they are tested periodically and are in good working condition.
