The Police have arrested a 49-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a series of outrage of modesty cases.
On 5 August 2025 at about 11.31pm, the Police received a report that an unknown man had allegedly molested a woman at Serangoon NEX Shopping mall.
Through follow-up investigations and with the aid of images from CCTVs, officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him within 15 hours of the report.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the man is believed to be involved in at least five other cases of outrage of modesty.
The man will be charged in court on 8 August 2025 for the offence of outrage of modesty under Section 354(1) of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment term which may extend to three years, or a fine, or caning, or any combination of such punishments.
The Police have zero tolerance towards sexual offenders who threaten the personal safety of the community. Offenders will be dealt with sternly in accordance with the law. The Police will continue to work closely with various stakeholders, such as public entertainment outlets, public transport operators, and the community, to prevent and deter molestation cases. The Police would like to urge members of the public to remain vigilant and to report the matter to the Police immediately if they witness an incident of molestation, or are aware of someone being a victim of molestation.
