The Singapore Police Force (SPF) hosted the Annual Police Dinner on Thursday, 21 August 2025, at the Resorts World Sentosa Convention Centre, with Mr K Shanmugam, Coordinating Minister for National Security and Minister for Home Affairs, attending the event as the Guest-of-Honour.
The event recognised individuals and community partners who have significantly contributed to or closely collaborated with the SPF and commemorated two major milestones - the 50th Anniversary (Golden Jubilee) of Police National Service (PNS) and the Centenary of the SPF Band.
As part of the 50th anniversary celebrations of PNS, a commemorative time capsule was sealed during the dinner to honour five decades of contributions by PNSmen in preventing, deterring, and detecting crime, as well as their evolving roles within the SPF.
Minister K Shanmugam was joined on stage by Commissioner of Police Hoong Wee Teck, alongside Director of the PNS Department, Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police K Puvenesveran, NS Commander of Central Police Division, Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Police (NS) Lok Weng Hoe, and SC/Corporal Muhamad Irfan Bin Muhamad Rapid from Special Operations Command, all of whom represent the PNS community. Together, they placed the following symbolic items into the time capsule, each representing the rich heritage, discipline, and future aspirations of the Force:
- A SPF200 Medallion, commemorating 200 years of policing in Singapore;
- A Swagger Stick, representing ceremonial pride and discipline within the Force;
- A Letter to the Future, the PNS Booklet, and the embroidered crest of the PNS Department, reflecting the contributions and future hopes of PNS officers;
- An Assistant Superintendent of Police peak cap, symbolising leadership and service; and
- A SPF jockey cap, representing vigilance and dedication to national security.
Guests were treated to a special performance by the SPF Band, which also marked a historic milestone - its 100th anniversary. For a century, the SPF Band has inspired generations through music, strengthened community bonds, and represented SPF with pride at countless national and international events, including most recently at the National Day Parade.
The dinner was attended by 900 community partners, guests, and Police officers, who gathered to celebrate the enduring partnership between the SPF and the community.
