Traffic And Security Arrangements For The Opening Of The First Session Of The 15th Parliament

The Opening of the First Session of the 15th Parliament will be held on Friday, 5 September 2025, at Parliament House.

As part of security operations, the Police will be conducting security checks in the vicinity of Parliament House during the event period. The public is advised to comply strictly with the instructions of the Police and any non-compliance will be dealt with firmly in accordance with the law.

Traffic Arrangements

To facilitate the event, the following roads and lanes will be closed to vehicular traffic during the stipulated period:

Motorists are advised to avoid the roads surrounding Parliament House, including High Street, and to plan their journey by taking the following alternative routes:

  1. Use Bras Basah Road if proceeding to North Bridge Road from:
    i. Eu Tong Sen Street; or
    ii. Hill Street; or
    iii. Victoria Street; 

  2. Use North Bridge Road if proceeding to:
    i. Parliament Place; or
    ii. South Bridge Road;

During the closure, access will only be granted to authorised vehicles as well as police and emergency vehicles. Police officers and auxiliary police officers will be deployed along North Bridge Road, Parliament Place and High Street to assist and direct motorists.

Parking restrictions will be strictly enforced. Vehicles found parking illegally or causing obstruction will be towed.

We seek the cooperation of members of the public to comply with the traffic and security arrangements. Members of the public may contact 6332 6666 for further enquiries on the arrangements around Parliament House.

Temporary Restricted Areas over Parliament House

The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) will be establishing a Temporary Restricted Area (TRA) (see Annex A) over the Parliament House, 5 September 2025, from 3.00pm to 10.30pm.

During the above-stated date and timing, the conduct of aerial and unmanned aircraft activities within and into the TRA is prohibited and is an offence under the Air Navigation Order (ANO) and the Air Navigation (101 – Unmanned Aircraft Operations) Regulations 2019 (ANR-101) respectively. The penalty upon conviction for the offence under the ANO is a fine of up to S$20,000 for the first offence, and a fine of up to S$40,000 or imprisonment of up to 15 months, or both, for the second and subsequent offence. The penalty upon conviction for the offence under the ANR-101 is a fine of up to S$50,000 or imprisonment of up to two years, or both, for the first offence, and a fine of up to S$100,000 or imprisonment of up to five years, or both, for the second and subsequent offence.


ANNEX A

Map of TRA (marked in blue)

The TRA boundary will be based on a 1-kilometre radius from Parliament House (LL: 1° 17' 20" N, 103° 51' 01" E) and will be in effect during the stipulated date and duration.
