Karl Liew To Be Charged With Offences Of Furnishing False Information And Giving False Evidence

Following the release of the High Court judgement and in light of the High Court’s comments, the Attorney-General’s Chambers (“AGC”) directed the Police to conduct further investigations with a view to assess if any offences have been committed by the Liews. The Police have completed investigations and consulted AGC on our recommendations.

Liew Kai Lung Karl (“Karl Liew”) will be charged in court on 5 November 2020 with two charges under the Penal Code:

  1. one count under section 177 of the Penal Code for furnishing false information to a public servant; and
  2. one count under section 193 of the Penal Code for giving false evidence.
