Man Swiftly Arrested For Shop Theft

The Police have arrested a 26-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of shop theft.

On 12 March 2021 at about 3.15 pm, the Police received a report that a man had allegedly stolen four tins of milk powder from a supermarket along Ang Mo Kio Street 31.

Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from CCTV footages, officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on the same day within six hours of the report. Preliminary investigations revealed that the man is believed to be involved in other similar cases of shop theft reported island-wide and allegedly profited from the sale of the stolen tins of milk powder. The four tins of milk powder were recovered.

The man will be charged in court on 13 March 2021 with theft in dwelling, punishable under Section 380 of the Penal Code. The offence carries an imprisonment term of up to seven years, and a fine.
