The Police have arrested a 55-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of outrage of modesty.

On 27 October 2021 at about 6.15pm, the Police received a report that a 27-year-old female victim had been molested by an unknown man along Veerasamy Road. Through follow-up investigations and with the aid of images from Police and CCTV cameras, officers from Central Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him within 17 hours of the report being made.

The man will be charged in court on 30 October 2021 with outrage of modesty under Section 354(1) of the Penal Code. The offence carries an imprisonment term which may extend to two years, or a fine, or caning, or any combination of such punishments.
